Light Shafts (Pro Only)

23 posts in this topic

Hello everybody, so today I found an awesome asset that you guys should all try out. This asset is like sun shafts, except you get to have multiple lights, and it's truly volumetric! It can have a lot of bugs so try it out at your own risk. The example scenes tend to work fine though. As always, this asset is for the PRO version only! Anyway, here it is...

The guy who programmed this is a graphics programmer at Unity Tech. Check him out at @robertcupisz on Twitter!

The bugs are targeted to be fixed in Unity 4.5 and MAY ship with the Pro Standard Assets package.

I saw this online, it's really great! It's a damn shame I'm running unity indie

I read this paper a while back, I had plans of implementing this. But this implementation is pretty solid! Same one used in Unreal Engine too!

I have to warn that it is pretty buggy at times. It looks beautiful though, when you don't have a bunch of depth cameras.

When I test out this unity package, I get compiler errors regarding "UnityEngine.Rendering".  What exactly is this? I can't find any documentation on it.

Specifically in LightShafts.cs, the ternary condition at line 256:

Could someone reupload the unity package to another site like mediafire?

When I click Please login or register to see this link. I get encrypted text.

You're most likely using Firefox. Either download Google Chrome or something else (solve future problems with links like these) or download the one that I'm currently uploading right now. You can also try right clicking the link and save as a file. If it saves as text, then try changing the file extension to .unitypackage.

Uploaded, new link: Please login or register to see this link.

Maybe one day unity will beat unreal engine's amazing lighting...
