Light beam in unity pro

Question

I was trying hard, searching all over the net to make a light beam effect at office today.. I didn't find any good reference but a $ 40 asset with true volumetric effect :(

is there any way to achieve a light beam effect like this in unity free or pro?

Try a cone mesh with a uv animation on it, transparentshader/lit shader. Add a light source and I think you come really close. Maybe some blooming and a lensflare for finishing it.
