Terrain Texture - How to get rid of the tiled look!

Question

Hey all! We're in the process of creating our first map, and so far, well...it looks pretty nooby!

Using the terrain tool built in to unity we add a texture and apply it - 15px or sometimes 5px.

Although we have looked all over the net to find textures that wouldn't give this effect we couldn;t find any.

Therefore, can anyone in the Armed Unity community help us get rid of the "tiled" look and make the terrain look better!

Thanks in advance!

Lol they are the same people repping your post up haha. To fix the problem, you have to use PhotoShop and blend the edges to correspond with the opposite side

Or you can decrease the tiling amount but then it will look blurrier. You can create a shader to add a variable to add another texture overlapping the default texture (Diffuse Detail). Unfortunately those are the only ways to do it

NOOB QUESTION ALERT: What's a normalmap? Is it a cube or part of the terrain?

Haha a normal map adds more definition or bumpiness to the texture/object. A normal map should be a blue texture.
