Hey, just one advice:

This is a Skin not a Rig.

A Rig is a setup with helpers, controllers ...

So you have a skin + if you have some automatic controllers then this is a rig + skin ...

No, this is a rig, it has bones. A Rig isnt a setup with controller........ rigged means you can animate it and it has bones

But the Bones doesnt work with a valid Skin Data. A Rig contains the bones, a setup of Controllers, like automatik IK Controller ( So you dont need to rotate each bone per hand)

You know that this is 3ds max and that what you say isnt possible in unity ?

Ok, I divide my option to 75%. In 3ds max you animate with the controllers and you must skin your mesh before you can animate a mesh. Because each edge must be connected with a bone. And then there are Skin weights. So if you connect a edge with a head for 50 %, and for the Neck for 50 % Your rotation have got only the half result. This is skinning what I mean. And this is the final name: Skinning. And you dont animate in Unity, animating is done in Blender or 3dsmax or other programs. Your have got right too, the controllers dont work in unity if you use 3ds max parameters on it. But it works if you parent a controller for the hand.

And all others are helpers, bones, controllers, These parts complete the Rig part.

That is the point :d In unity you cant animate so good for characters. It is only for basic animations ... and you should animate in a extern program like blender or Unity (If you model your things self) ...

ööhhh i think with update 4.0 of unity , there came a new feature to unity , called meciam and with meciam its also possible to animate more skilled/advanced animations (as u are able to seee in the butterfly demo , made by unity )
