Blender terrain to unity ?

Question

Hi,

I made a terrain on blender and export it to unity as FBX. file. Now, can unity read it as unity terrain ?

So, can put grass and trees on it.

@Aeleas in the link you posted for the tutorial it tells you how to fix that if you Scroll down to "missing prefab".

 

@Everyone using a placement tool and keeping the terrain mesh can cause large overhead on large terrain. The reason is because you cannot cull a single mesh if it always visible without using split sectioning, you will also lose higher speed billboarding and wind. It is always recommended to use unitys terrain or similar

The Unity Terrain component only supports heightmaps and creates it own mesh when you paint on the terrain.

So you can't directly use your own models with the terrain component.

 

What I would suggest you do is create or buy a tool with which you can paint prefabs on a mesh...

I personally use PrefabBrush, it's cheap and works pretty good.

not sure, but you could export the heightmap information from blender by baking a hightmap from the terrain on to a plain... you might have to use a custom cage for that and use xnormal instead of the build in blender baker... but then you should be able to use that hight map to generate a terrain from it in unity

but I can't pass this point
